Investments
WorldTel has a number of investments currently in place or under development. The following are examples of typical investments.
In Mexico, WorldTel is a founding member of a consortium with the Milmo/Zambrano family of Mexico, investing in excess of USD 1 billion in the nationwide wireless access operator, Axtel. Axtel launched its services in June 1999 and it plans to provide voice, data-communications and Internet services to two million subscribers within its first five years of operation. Axtel holds a nationwide licence and frequencies covering in excess of 95 million people.

In Zimbabwe, WorldTel has been granted a 15-year concession to build, operate and transfer a network of 150,000 telephone lines in the capital, Harare, the Mashonaland Districts and Victoria. WorldTel will be providing a full range of telecommunication services including voice, data and Internet.

In Egypt, WorldTel and IT Investments have formed a joint venture company within Egypt to explore and develop regional investment opportunities.

In Bangladesh, WorldTel has won a license to build, own and operate a 300,000-line telephone network in the nation's capital and financial centre, Dhaka. WorldTel will be providing a full range of telecommunication services including voice, data and Internet.
